The Cavagna Group 60 years of history The family business founded in 1949 by five brothers and headed by Paolo Cavagna focused primarily on the production of brassware During this period the first LPG fittings were being produced and introduced to the Italian LPG market In the early 1960s OMECA was established Cavagna Group post medical valves were employed in the 2010 rescue of the 33 Chilean trapped miners Paolo Cavagna founder and began to specialize in the production of valves and components for the LP gas industry The decades to follow were characterized by a gradual and continuous expansion which through the development of in house production processes and acquisitions led the company to become the global business it is today In 1970 in order to expand the companys value chain RECA was founded a manufacturing unit dedicated to the production of LPG regulators and pressure reducers In 1978 Cavagna partners with CONGRIF a Venezuelan manufacturer of regulators and components launching the Groups ambitious global expansion plan Several years later in 1990 Cavagna North America was founded At the same time refocusing on domestic production facilities became imperative An additional step towards vertically integrating production was made in 1984 when CORI became operational Today CORI remains the exclusive supplier of the Groups die cast components The onset of CORI not only extended the value chain it ensured complete control over the production process The demand for quality products led to a production increase This encouraged a development strategy by which the construction of its own machines and equipment became a priority CAVIMATIC established in 1988 develops and manufactures all equipment exclusively for the Cavagna Group from tools and machines to machineryrelated equipment and prototypes all the way to test benches With the acquisition of Calorgas Engineering UK in 1997 the company secured a large share of the local market igniting a rapid acquisition policy In order to guarantee further expansion in the European market the Danish company Kosangas was incorporated 1999 Kosan Teknova its former name was widely known for its patented products in southern European and Asian markets In 2001 Italian manufactures OARA a manufacturer of LPG and NG regulators and OMB valves were incorporated into the Group In 2002 the Cavagna Group reinforced its international presence through a joint venture agreement with the Thai company SVM which in 2010 was completely overtaken and today is known as Cavagna Group Asia The primary objective of this cooperation was to tap into the East and southeast Asian markets Finally 2006 saw the companys first forays into the Chinese market In 2005 the Group extended its activities in the Far East through the establishment of an entirely owned plant dedicated to the production of LPG and natural gas regulators Only a few years later in 2009 the Group partners with Mesura a French manufacturer of natural gas regulators In 2010 Cavagna Group acquired CEMCO in Chile The market there is expected to grow just as it is in Asia As we reach into more markets throughout the world The Cavagna Group will continue to serve its customers with the highest quality products CORPORATE CAPAbiliTiEs Cavagna North America Inc 50 Napoleon Court Somerset NJ 08873 Phone 732 469 2100 Fax 732 469 3344 E mail info@ cavagna com Web site www cavagnagroup com In 2006 renowned Italian car designer Pininfarina designed and built the Turin Winter Olympics Games torch The torch embodied Cavagna technology with a valve and integrated regulator www LPGasmagazine com July 2012 LPGas 59
